SCHOOL REPORT CARD INFORMATION (DUE 10-26-01)

The district and school reports have arrived in the curriculum office today. Before we can make copies and send to your buildings for distribution, each principal needs to submit information to be printed on the back page of the report card. This section is similar to last year and is titled "PLANNED IMPROVEMENT FOR THE SCHOOL AND DISTRICT" and reads- "Based on your school's improvement plan, your school and district are providing information on areas of success and areas for planned improvement." Therefore, please submit the information below to the curriculum office by Friday, 10-26-01 to allow time for duplication and meet State required timelines. Email the data to me or send an attached Word file.
Here is the format/template that should be used (please limit to one standard page, word processed, 10 pt. font):
Paragraph One -background/summary information about your school (population, # of students, programs offered, other?)
Paragraph Two -areas of success or identified strength
Paragraph Three -areas for planned improvement
Paragraph Four -summation of goals from the school improvement plan (should relate to the above section- areas for planned improvement)

CONFERENCE DATA NEEDED (DUE 10-26-01)

If you have not sent in your school's parent/teacher conference data yet, please do so by Friday, 10-26-01. This information will be used in a report to the Board of Education in a few weeks. Please send the following data on the number of parents in attendance for p/t conferences:
1. Total # of students
2. Total # of students who were represented by parents/guardians
3. Total percentage of students with parent representation in attendance at conferences
4. Describe the plan of action that addresses those parents who did not attend p/t conferences

CURRICULUM REVIEW CYCLE- FEEDBACK NEEDED

We will be spending some time discussing the updated "Curriculum Alignment and Review Cycle" at Friday's Leadership meeting. Please take a moment for a "sneak preview" of the draft document and come prepared to share your feedback. SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PLAN FORMAT
------------------------------------------------------------------------
As we continuously move closer to applying the processes of Lincoln/Baldrige and other quality initiatives in our district, the format/template of the school improvement plan will be evolving as well. We will be discussing some format changes to how the SIP is put together and published. These changes may not necessarily need to take place immediately, but we hope to integrate these changes by next school year. In general, we will be discussing the concept of shifting from the traditional "State of Illinois School Improvement Model", to a model adhering to the Lincoln/Baldrige criteria. We will discuss this concept further at Friday's Leadership team meeting. We look forward to your comments, suggestions and feedback.
Also, we will soon be sharing a template or model to use for the SIP summary that each principal will be sharing with the Board of Education. Stay tuned for more information...
