ITBS Updates

ITBS results have arrived. Our office is making the appropriate copies and will be sending the information out to you by Friday. I am also in the process of scheduling training to use the software and ITBS data that was sent with your results. This software will allow much more in-depth analysis, graphing and reporting. More information coming soon on times/dates for training.

Koalaty Kid Conference and Training Update!

TRAINING:

There is space available for two more teams for Koalaty Kid training on the following dates:

1.) Spring Training: March 12/13, May 2/3, June 20/21 (1 team of 6-8 people is still available) <Horace Mann and Ridgewood are registered>

2.) Summer Training: June 6/7/10/11/12 (1 team of 6-8 people is still available) <Denkmann is registered>

If you are interested in registering a team for either of the training dates, please contact ASAP. I need to order training materials immediately.

CONFERENCE:

A confirmed list of participants for the National Koalaty Kid conference April 21-24 in Schaumberg, IL is now available online at http://curriculum.risd41.org/documents/koalaty/KKconference.htm . Please verify participants from your building and make any changes or substitutions. Directions for registration for the conference will follow soon. February 25th 1/2 Day In-Service Planning- Summary Evaluations Due by March 8th

As you are planning for the February 25th 1/2 day in-service, make sure to review your school's (and other schools in the District) evaluation feedback summary from 1-28-02 --> http://curriculum.risd41.org/documents/Summary1-28-02.htm to help improve the effectiveness of the scheduled activities. We will again be collecting professional development evaluation information from your staff and a report will be made to the Board of Education (same format as last time). Please use the same form which can be downloaded at http://curriculum.risd41.org/documents/pd/evaluation.doc . All 1/2 day professional development summary evaluations from 2-25-02 are due to our office by Friday, March 8th. Please submit summary data only (ex: the building average ratings for each category and all plus/delta comments). Contact me if further clarification is needed.

March 15th 1/2 Day In-Service Planning- Evaluation Forms Due by April 8th

For advanced planning purposes, please also plan on submitting summary evaluations for the March 15th activities in your building. (Same procedure as above)

Early Success/FROG Training on March 6th - Participants Confirmed!

===================================

Early Success/FROG training will be held on March 6th at the Administration center, room 23. FROG training is scheduled from 12:30 - 3:30pm and Early Success training is scheduled from 3:45pm - 5:00 pm . Participants registered for the FROG portion of the day (12:30 - 3:30 pm) will need to call in for a substitute teacher for a 1/2 day in the pm (if needed). Please complete the appropriate "leave of absence" form and send it to my office for coding. Many thanks to our trainers for the day- Deb Fedderson, Carlolyn Hensley, Mary Bowker and Lynne Brandenburg (all from our district).

Principals:

2.) Copy or forward this information to all registered participants in your building

3.) Communicate appropriately with those staff in your building who are registered for training

4.) Ensure that you sign the appropriate "leave of absence" form and send to my office

Teachers:

1.) Confirm your attendance with the building principal and call in for a substitute teacher if necessary

2.) Complete the "leave of absence" form and give to the building principal

3.) Bring the following materials with you to the training:

-at least one big book

-three copies of recent running records (You can bring 3 different student's running records or three different running records of the same student.)

Proposals For Academic Intervention Now Posted Online! Other Proposals Due by March 1st.

All proposals are due by March 1st. Any funds not accounted for will be redistributed as needed to other buildings. Nice work! The proposed interventions are looking great! 3rd quarter report cards are to be sent out no later than the Friday following 3rd intersession (April 5th and April 12th for Grant/Horace Mann).

Science Curriculum Alignment Committee Update

Timelines:
February 6- Science materials arrive in schools and are reviewed by teachers
February 28- Science committee meets (Elementary Only) to finalize science materials selection
March 11- Proposal to the Board of Education- adopt recommended materials
March 13- Begin ordering selected materials

Reminders:

-It is important that all staff have an opportunity to review materials and provide feedback. If a staff member chooses not to review and evaluate the materials, that is OK. They at least need to be offered the opportunity.

-Teachers will need to return the completed evaluation form <http://curriculum.risd41.org/committee/science/SCIENCE_EVALUATION.doc> (for both science programs) to by February 26th to the designated contact person in each building

-Elementary science committee members will meet on February 28th to analyze feedback data from each building. Agenda available at http://curriculum.risd41.org/committee/science/agenda2-28-02.htm .
