and Reminders for 4-4-02 from the Office of Instruction and School
Improvement...
===================================
K-12 Principal Meeting Scheduled for 4-16-02 @ 9:15 a.m.
===================================
Due to
scheduling conflicts, the Elementary Principal meeting scheduled for April 12th
has been canceled. Instead, we will be
combining the K-6 and 7-12 principal meetings for the last two meetings of the
year. During each meeting, there will
be time set aside for breakout sessions for each group. The next scheduled principal meeting is on
4-16-02 in room 23 of the administration center. A draft agenda is available at
http://curriculum.risd41.org/admin/principal_meetings/4-16-02.htm . Please email me if you have any other agenda
items you would to see added.

May 14th, All Principals are Invited to "Staff Development
Standards" Workshop
===================================
Please
mark May 14th on your calendar. Linda
Munger (National Staff Development Council board member and consultant) will be
with us to share strategies on how to effectively plan staff development
activities. Special attention will be
focused on integrating staff development activities into the School Improvement
Plan. More information about this
workshop will be shared at the April 16th principal meeting. We would like to see 100% attendance for
this event.

Individual School Professional Development/School Improvement
Funds- April 19th Deadline
===================================
Our
office is in the process of utilizing and reallocating remaining professional
development/school improvement funds that were distributed at the beginning of
the year ($2000 per building). I have
posted an up-to-date file containing each building's remaining balance. This file can be viewed at
http://curriculum.risd41.org/admin/pdbudgets4-4-02.htm . On April 19th, all funds not expended from
building PD budgets will be reclaimed.
If you have applied for funds that HAVE NOT been expended yet, please
email me the amount to leave in your account to pay for the scheduled PD
activities. You will notice that in
some cases schools have applied, have been approved and have completed PD activities. Yet, there may still be money
showing in your school's account. In
this instance, I was able to use grant funds (instead of District funds) to
cover the expense. It does not
necessarily mean that if there is money left in your account that it can be
spent without approval. Please utilize
the same process for accessing any PD funds for the remainder of the year. This process can be found at http://curriculum.risd41.org/admin/professional_development.htm
. Principals must inform me in
writing by April 19th if any funds need to be left in the school's professional
development/school improvement accounts.

Discovery/Test Scores Update
===================================
Janet
Russell is getting close to completing the recent ITBS data import into the
Discovery database. In the next few days, I will be giving instructions on how
to access the recent ITBS results and reports.
Within the next few weeks, we should have the last 3 years of ITBS and
ISAT test data entered into Discovery. More to come on the capabilities we will
have to access reports and conduct data analysis on student achievement...
