Science
Materials Being Delivered To Schools- FOSS materials
should have arrived by now and McMillan/McGraw-Hill materials are making their
way to your schools as we speak. It will
take a few weeks to ensure that all materials have arrived at your school,
please be patient. Over the next several
weeks, we will seek to make sure that everyone has the necessary
materials. For now, just keep track of
the materials that are received at your school.
To see exactly how many materials are being sent to your building and a
description of the materials, go here -->
http://curriculum.risd41.org/committee/science/risd_science.htm . In a few weeks, I will ask all K-6 principals
to indicate the number of excess materials and the number of materials you are
short. Before doing this, we want to
wait until staffing assignments are complete and all student transfers have
taken place. Please be prepared to send
me back any excess materials so they can be redistributed to other buildings.
Science
POC Update- The
updated POC list is available at
http://curriculum.risd41.org/committee/science/poc/poc_members.htm . Please check to make sure that you have
identified a POC. The POC should be directly involved in processing the new
science materials, please involve them in the process. I will be soon scheduling the first POC
meeting (which will occur in late August.)
If you haven't done so already, send me the name of your POC… ASAP.

Academic Intervention Planning Meeting Scheduled For 8-15-02 (3:45pm
in Room 23)
===================================
As we
prepare to "roll out" this year's academic intervention program,
Bruce and I have scheduled a planning meeting for August 15th at 3:45pm in Room
23. We are requesting that principals
and/or literacy facilitators or another teacher who might be involved in the
intervention planning attend the meeting
with the building principal. The
information that was shared at the last administrators meeting is now online at
http://curriculum.risd41.org/admin/intersession/2002_ai.htm . Please begin planning now so that we can
begin the school year providing interventions to those students that need
it. See you on 8-15-02. A detailed agenda will follow soon.
A report
of last year's academic intervention is now available online at
http://curriculum.risd41.org/admin/intersession/Academic_Int_rep_01-02.htm .
This report will be shared with the Board of Education at the next board
meeting. View the report to see what
other schools offered last year, how many students were served and how each
school evaluated their programs. When
planning interventions for this year, please review your school's evaluation
and plus/delta to improve your interventions for this year.

ITBS & ISAT/PSAE

ISAT/PSAE results should arrive within the
next few days. We will be scheduling an
ISAT information meeting within the next couple weeks. School reports must be reviewed immediately
and principals must notify NCS if there are any errors.

(that were distributed to you at the last administrators meeting) by this Friday,

Expertise
Wanted!- A Call For Presenters- During our principal and leadership
meetings this year, we will be seeking out principals who would be willing to
share an area of expertise or successful programs being implemented in your
school. There will be a portion of our
meetings devoted to "best practices & professional development"
of our administrative group on a regular basis.
Please begin thinking about expertise that you could share. Examples of topics that could be presented…
"Effective Title I Programs", "Student Led Conferences",
"Leading the School Improvement Team/SIP Planning", "Data Driven
Decision Making", ect. Give it some
thought… if interested in sharing, please send me an email listing the
potential topics you could present.
