Preliminary Science Textbook Evaluation Information

Participants were asked to rank order the following science programs: FOSS, McMillan/McGraw-Hill and Houghton-Mifflin using the following scale:

 

1-     First choice

2-     Second choice

3-     Third choice

At this stage, we will continue reviewing both FOSS and McMillan/McGraw-Hill science programs.  A decision must be made by March 1st to allow board approval and use of Illinois Textbook Loan funding.

 

Timelines:

 

January 31            Request sample materials for each building

February 6            Science materials arrive in schools and are reviewed by teachers

February 21            Science committee meets to finalize science materials selection

March 9            Proposal to the Board of Education to adopt recommended materials

March 13            Begin ordering selected materials
