Teachers were divided up into teams by level.
The task was to review, analyze, and clarify the Illinois
Learning Standards and Benchmarks at each grade level
Groups were formed as follows: Early Elementary (PreK-3), Late Elementary
(4-6), Middle/Junior High (7-8) and High School (9-12). Teams worked in groups to address the
following:

What do the standards and benchmarks mean at
each level?
ü
In which grade level are the standards and
benchmarks currently being taught?
ü
When comparing the Illinois Learning Standards
to current RISD instructional practices, where are the gaps?
Teams reported out findings by level.
ü
Each group made a brief presentation of their
findings with particular attention given to the gap analysis
Teams met to discuss transitional issues.
ü Late elementary met with early elementary and high school met with junior high school to discuss strengths and areas for improvement regarding the promotion and transition of students from one grade to the next. This was the first of several sessions to occur around this topic.

each grade level what is expected to be taught
